Bob Schoenke began his career at the Knox-Reeves advertising agency. He did features for army publications during World War II. He then embarked into freelance comic strip art. He drew the 'Jack Armstrong' strip between 1947 to 1949, based on the radio play, followed by 'Laredo Crockett' from June 1950 until January 1968. From 1964 until the series' final episode in 1968, Schoenke succeeded William G. Hargis as the artist of 'Jane Arden'.
