Ferien im Mittelalter, by Reiner Schwalme

Reiner Schwalme spent most of his life in the DDR (German Democratic Republic), the communist part of Germany. He studied graphics in Berlin and became a professional graphic artist in 1966. He did illustrations for books and magazines. His comic series 'Ralf und Robert' appeared in Trommel (1978), and the stories 'Der Schatz von Finkenrode' (1980-81) and 'Ferien im Mittelalter' (1981-82) were published in Für Dich. Since 1985, he was employed by critical satirical magazine Eulenspiegel as a cartoonist. In the early 1990s, he became political caricaturist for Sächsischen Zeitung.
