P. Hans Frankfurther Prize for the Comiclopedia

8 February 2020

We were surprised and honored to learn that the Comiclopedia team Bas Schuddeboom and Kjell Knudde won this year’s P. Hans Frankfurther Prize for special merits, awarded by Het Stripschap.

We are moved by the appreciation for our efforts to continue Kees Kousemaker’s legacy. Informing and educating about comics and their creators was Kees’ lifegoal, and we hope our encyclopedia has done exactly that during its 20 years existence. We must also mention our Comics Laureate of the Netherlands, Margreet de Heer, who was instrumental in the site’s early years, and of course Galerie Lambiek’s owner Boris Kousemaker, who facilitates our ongoing activities.

Editor Bas Schuddeboom was informed of the award by Stripschap chairman Meerten Welleman during the recording of Robin Vinck's Stripjournaal podcast. Stripjournaal also offers the full jury's report on its website (albeit only in Dutch).

Lambiek would like to thank this year's committee, consisting of Cok Jouvenaar, Paul Reichenbach, Jan-Willem de Vries, Typex, John Onnes, Richard Reiman and Stefan Nieuwenhuis, for this appreciation.
