This volume is the long-awaited follow-up to Williams' Malicious Resplendence, and does for the artist's comics what the previous book did for his paintings. Hysteria in Remission collects the artist's drawings and comics, including all of Williams's contributions to such seminal underground anthologies as ZAP, Snatch, Arcade, Cocaine Comix, Felch and many more (much of which has been out-of-print for over twenty-five years). In addition, there are also cartoons from Williams' early years at L.A. City College, the seminal Coochy Cooty Men's Comix, hot-rod art done for Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's studio, and the rare two-color strip "Yama Yama". The book also features many works never before published in any format, including the previously-unseen, full-color storyboards for a proposed animated ZAP movie. Two introductions begin the festivities, including one by Gilbert Sheldon (The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers) and one by Williams himself. All in all, this extraordinary volume is essential reading for Williams fans, underground comix aficionados and lovers of fine comic art!

"This blast from the past still has the power to disturb and impress." – Publishers Weekly

"In his art, Williams provides his audience with a lucid and lyrical, violent and apocalyptic windshield to view the chaotic landscape of our culture as it whizzes past our peripheral vision into the rear-view mirror of art history — Enjoy the white knuckle ride." – Walter Hopps, former Curator of the Smithsonian Institution's 20th Century American Art Collection
