In the first issue of this series we meet a struggling artist who decides to tag along with a group of Barch Mercenaries, who are heading to join the Prince Archer. The Prince Archer has gathered a huge army to fight fight the Bouch' Tai'Hai. Along the way they meet Jez, a spoilt boy who wants to become a great warrior. But, for many of the group, their journey is cut short when they meet a Jouk, a deadly enemy of the Barches.
