'Dikkie Dapper'.
Bram Ohm followed an artistic education in Amsterdam. He worked as an illustrator and comic artist. Before World War II, he worked for the Rotogravure Mij. in Leiden, and after the War at De Geïllustreerde Pers. He produced several adventure comics for magazines between 1935 and 1940. He is best known for the strip 'Dikkie Dapper' (1946-1965), serialized in several magazines (Jeugdland, Jeugdwereld, Vizier, Eva).
'Dikkie Dapper'.
'Dikkie Dapper' was a comic strip about an Amsterdam street urchin that was so popular among juvenile readers, that a Dikkie Dapper Krant was launched, which appeared from 1950 to 1955. A theater play was made in the 1960s, without consent of the author, which was performed all throughout The Netherlands. In addition, Ohm drew a cartoon strip about the cat 'Miepie' in Eva (1949-1965). Other comics by Ohm are 'Hoe Twee Hollandse Jongens op Mars Belandden' (Jeugdland, 1940-41), 'Oom Bart's Avonturen op de Planeet Mars' (Jeugdland, 1941), and 'De Avonturen van Sim Pansee' (with Jan Has in De Prins, 1943). He passed away in Amsterdam in 1987.
