Jesús Acosta Cabrera was a Mexican painter and caricaturist. He graduated from art school, and initially went to work for the national railway services. He turned to cartooning after winning a contest held by daily newspaper El Universal. He became the paper's regular cartoonist, and created the character 'Chupamirto' with writer J. Collantes in 1920. The character inspired the comedian Mario Moreno Reyes to play a character called Cantiflas in the 1930s.
