Don Bilz by Alfredo Adduard

Alfredo Adduard Corbalán was a popular Chilean cartoonist and illustrator. A medical student, he began his artistic career working as a cartoonist for the Santiago newspaper Los Tiempos between 1922 and 1934. He then began collaborations with the publishing house Zig-Zag and the political magazine Verdejo.

With Zig-Zag, he was known for his 1940s covers with chubby children for the children's magazine El Cabrito. He also illustrated children's tales for this magazines, while also making a cartoon for Don Fausto. He started drawing advertising comics in En Peneca in the 1940s, creating 'Don Bilz', a strip about a gentleman who faces his problems by drinking a beer.

He continued to draw for magazines and papers like La Nacion until the mid 1960s. He died in Santiago in May 1969.
