Sam Alden is a cartoonist and illustrator from Portland, Oregon, who lives in Montreal. He was the author of the comic book 'Eighth Grade', about three teenagers and their families in the final weeks of middle school, for several years. His comic Haunter was serialized by Study Group Comics. In 2013 he won the Ignatz Award for most promising new talent, and his work has been previously published in 'Best American Comics 2013', from Houghton-Mifflin.
Later works include 'The Worm Troll' (Study Group Comics), 'The Man That Dances In The Meadow', 'It Never Happened Again' (Uncivilized Books), 'The Alpine Biologist' (Floating World Comics) and 'Wicked Chicken Queen' (Retrofit Comics).
