Alka is the pen name of the Belgian artist Jean-Baptiste Deleu. He was one of the most productive artists of game and riddle pages of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, and his work has appeared in many magazines of the time.
'Tom Pol, détective' (La Dernière Heure, 10 October 1946).
Born Jean-Baptiste Deleu, he drew the comic strips 'Tom Pol Détective' and 'Une nouvelle aventure de Tom Pol' for the children's page of the newspaper La Dernière Heure between 1946 and 1950. He made the illustrations for the 'Pret en verzet' section of the Flemish children's magazine Zonnekind for many years. He also made the drawings for the magic tricks depicted in 'Ons Jeugdboek', and for the German book 'Zauberfibel' by Wilhelm Kessing and installments of Wir Jungen – Ein kunterbuntes Buch fur Leseratter by Magdalena Ahlers.
His games and riddles appeared in French-language children's magazines like Le Journal de Mickey, Picsou, Record, Super As, Francs-Jeux and Le Journal des Jeux pour Tous, but also in Femmes d'Aujourd'hui and L'Ami du Peuple.
