Robb Armstrong was born and raised in West Philadelphia, and studied Fine Arts at Syracuse University. He created his popular newspaper comic strip 'Jump Start' in 1988. Robb Armstrong is one of the few African-American syndicated cartoonists in America, and has dedicated himself to educating young people by offering an authentic, positive representation of middle-class African-Americans.
His strip 'Jump Start', starring Joe and Marcy, does so with charm and insight, born of personal experience. 'JumpStart' appears in more than 400 newspapers across the USA through Universal Uclick. Armstrong's characters have starred in several public service campaigns, including the American Diabetes Association¹s campaign promoting the Diabetes Risk Test. Armstrong is also in increasing demand as a motivational speaker. He resides in Los Angeles.
