Gabriel Arnao Crespo, known as Gabi Arnao, made his debut in 1943 with the comic 'El Señor Conejo', published in Maravillas. From 1943 to 1949 he made the series 'Sherlock Lopez' for Flechas y Pelayos. At the same time he was present in the periodical Chicos with 'Jim Erizo y su Papa'.

In 1949 he emigrated to France, where he started working for the S.F.P.I. From 1959, he worked for French magazines like Tartine et Tartinet and Dennis. For the last one he took on 'Sherlock Lopez' again in 1968. His final series, 'Bloupy', appeared from 1983 in Amis-Coop.
