Curro Astorza contributed to the set of magazines Rambla, Rambla Quincenal and Rampa during the first half of the 1980s. He was an amateur artist when he made his debut in the fifth issue of Rambla in 1982. Among the works he did for the publisher were the brief serials 'El Evento de Alamogordo' (1984) and 'Lino Urano' (1985). Then Astorza also contributed to short-lived magazine Caníbal.
