François Ayroles studied at the School of Fine Arts in Angoulême for three years. In 1994, he participated in the collective album 'Le Retour de Dieu', before embarking on a regular cooperation with L'Association and its magazine Lapin in 1995. For this publisher, he has conceived books like 'Jean Qui Rit, Jean Qui Pleure' (collection Patte de Mouche, 1995), 'Notes Mésopotamiennes' (collection Mimolette, 2000), 'Incertain Silence' (collection Éperluette, 2001) and 'Les Parleurs' (collection Mimolette, 2003). He is a member of the OuBaPo group (Ouvroir de Bande dessinée Potentielle), that explores the narrative and graphic potential of the comics art. In 2003, he made 'Enfer Portatif', which was published by Casterman. In addition to his comics work, Ayroles does illustrations for Libération and Les Inrockuptibles.
