Sarnath Banerjee is a Delhi-based author of graphic novels, and co-founder of the publishing house Phantomville. He studied Image and Communication at the University of London. In 2004 he published one of the first Indian graphic novels through Penguin Books, 'Corridor', a story about alienation and fragmented reality of urban life. It was followed in 2007 by 'The Barn Owl's Wondrous Capers', about the scandals of 18th century Calcutta, and in 2011 by 'The Harappa Files'.

His work deals largely with the changes in Indian society, and often incorporates autobiographical elements. Sarnath Banerjee is also a member of Orijit Sen's Pao collective. The Hindu newspaper runs his innovative feature 'Enchanted Geography', starring the main character from 'Corridor'. He has held several fellowships in India, France, Germany and Budapest.
