Marian en Robin (Tina #38, 1996)

The Catalan artist María Barrera i Castells was part of the group of female comic illustrators that drew romantic comic series for 1950s Spanish girls' comics. Her art appeared in publications like Sissi, Jana and Pulgarcito, and she has worked with characters like 'Celia', 'Pituca' and 'Anita' (in Jana). She illustrated several books in the collections Historias ('Genoveva de Bravante', 'Alicia en el País de las Maravillas', 'Sissi emperatriz', 'Aquellas Mujercitas') and Joyas Literarias Juveniles ('Hombrecitos', 1975).

Barrera turned to agency art through the Bruguera agency Creaciones Editoriales in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. Her stories have appeared in European girls' magazines like Tammy, Misty (both UK) and Tina (The Netherlands).
