André Beckers made his comics debut in 1942 in Cocorico, where he drew the series 'La Patrouille des Aigles' (in Dutch: 'De Adelaarspatroelje') After drawing some daily newspaper strips, he in 1946 started a cooperation with Spirou. He started out creating mostly technical drawings, but also assisted Victor Hubinon and Jean-Michel Charlier on the first 'Buck Danny' story. Later on, he illustrated several installments in the collection 'Belles Histoires de l'Oncle Paul'. In the period 1948-1950 he drew the adventures of 'Lieutenant Tompson' for Heroïc Albums. He was head of a drawing studio of a newspaper. His signatures (Beckers, Bek's, Beckson, Andy) can be found in several magazines from 1955, like Risque-Tout, Tintin and Paddy.
Due to a serious car accident in 1961, Beckers had to give up drawing. However, nineteen years later he was sufficiently recovered and took on the series 'Romarinde' in Spirou. During his illness he was not completely inactive: he wrote some scripts for artists like MiTacq and Manuel Ferreira.
