Franziska Bilek was an artist, caricaturist, illustrator and writer from Munich. She worked among others for the Münchner Neuesten Nachrichten, and was brought in to work for Simplicissimus by Olaf Gulbransson in 1936.

Although she worked for this satirical magazine during its years under national-socialist supervision, her work is considered groundbreaking for the modern German cartoon art.

After World War II, Bilek worked for Der Simpl (1946) and the Münchner Abendzeitung (from 1952). She also became famous for her illustrations for 'Hirnbeiß' books. Bilek's books have been published by Braun & Schneider, Pferiemer Verlag, Piper Verlag and Goldmann Verlag.
