Hans Birnbauer was an artist and advertising draugtsman from Vienna, Austria. Between 1946 and 1959, he made a great many illustrations, illustrated stories and comics for Die Kinderpost. His style was influenced by the American animation characters of the time.
Among his series were 'Tschin Bell', 'Piep und Schnurr', 'Brumm und Trolly' and 'Adolar der Fussballstar', which were among the first Austrian-created comics series. Birnbauer also did cover illustrations for Unsere Zeitung, which he didn't sign.
