David Boller was born in 1968 in Zürich, Switzerland. After high school, he worked as a freelancer for several advertising agencies and self-published his own comic book. In 1992, he relocated to the United States to further his training as a cartoonist and graduated in 1994 from the Joe Kubert Graphic and Comic Art School.

Since then Boller has worked on many mainstream comic books. He penciled Marvel's 'Night Thrasher' series for a number of issues. He also penciled the first six issues of the 'Elfquest-Jink' series. Boller has also created promotional mini-comics for Marvel. He worked on the 'Magic The Gathering: Legend of Jedit Ojanen' mini-series for Acclaim Comics. His other credits for Marvel, DC and Top Cow include 'Foes of Spider-Man', 'Witchblade' and 'Batman'.

Boller has worked on his own creation, 'Kaos Moon', published by Caliber since 1996. 'Kaos Moon' was also serialized in the German Heavy Metal magazine, and in a series of graphic novels by Alpha Comics. Later on, David and his wife Mary Hildebrandt started their own company called Tusk Entertainment. He moved back to Switzerland in 2008.

Boller drew a homage to Robert Crumb in the collective book 'A Tribute to Robert Crumb' (Éditions 52, 2013).
