Benoît Bonte began his career at Aredit (Artima) publishers. At the same time, he worked free lance in advertisement. He teamed up with Jean-Pierre Croquet with whom he created numerous comics for Circus in the late 1980s. In 1995, they were assigned by the publishing house Lefrancq to begin a 'Sherlock Holmes' comic series. The series was later continued at Soleil publishers.
