Jean-Philippe Bramanti studied Fine Arts in both Marseille and Angoulême. During his first year at the Atelier BD in Angoulême, Bramanti met Guy Delcourt, who became interested in his work. Bramanti always wanted to do something in the style of Little Nemo. One of his teachers introduced him to the scriptwriter Thierry Smolderen, who was already working on a project about Nemo and its creator, Winsor McCay. The two started a cooperation and the biographical series 'Mac Cay' is born. His brother is comic artist Olivier Bramanti.
