Grand Avenue (2002), by Steve Breen

Steve Breen was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Orange County. He graduated in political science from the University of California in 1992. Heading for a job as history teacher, he was noticed for his cartoons and employed by the Asbury Park Press as editorial cartoonist in 1994. In 1998, Steve Breen was awarded the Pulitzer Prize, and a year later the Wilbur Award for his newspaper strip 'Grand Avenue', about a grandma tasked with raising two rambunctious twins. Since 2009, Breen is joined by fellow cartoonist Mike Thompson in the production of 'Grand Avenue'.

In 2001, Breen switched jobs and started as editorial cartoonist for the San Diego Union-Tribune. His work appears in several magazines such as Newsweek and USA Today, and is syndicated by Creators Syndicate (previously Copley News Service).
