Krane, by Lionel Bret

Lionel Bret was born in Suresnes, and studied medicine and natural sciences, before turning to the profession of draughtsman. Specialized in aerographics and working in the style of Chris Foss, he became a regular contributor to the magazine Captain Fulgur at Dargaud. He also became a cover artist for Editions du Masque. When Captain Fulgur ceased publication, Bret turned to the big press. In the comics field, he made one episode of the space opera 'Krane le Guerrier' with Jean-Pierre Gourmelen in the second series of Charlie Mensuel. An album was published by Dargaud in 1982. Despite of the album's success, Brett abandoned his comics activities and became a fulltime illustrator, mainly for Science et Vie magazine. The 'Krane' series was revived by Gourmelen and the Italian artist Marco Patrito in the 1990s.
