Madeline Brogan was born and raised in Michigan, but eventually settled in Florida. After college, she worked in advertising, did freelance artwork and had her own line of greeting cards. She assisted on Mort Walker and Dik Browne's 'Hi and Lois' in the late 1980s, and started the newspaper strip 'The First Lady' at Tribune Media Services' in 1993.
