Willeke Brouwer is a Dutch illustrator, cartoonist and writer, who lives and works in Mastenbroek, a town near Zwolle. She graduated from the Kampen art academy in 1990, and has made illustrations for over 90 children's books, mostly with an educational or Christian theme. These include Gisette van Dalen's series with the little boy Thomas and the 'Ernstjan en Snabbeltje' series by Jaap ter Haar. She writes and draws her own children's book series 'Silvester' for publisher Callenbach, about a boy who moves from the city to the countryside with his parents. The events are told from the boy's perspective, and also feature illustrations and occasional sequential strips.

Comic strip for Sprankel

She makes a daily cartoon on the frontpage of Nederlands Dagblad, and a weekly cartoon for EO-Visie. Her cartoons are generally not political, but focus on ordinary people and everyday life. She draws a comic strip for Sprankel!, the magazine of Sprank, a health care foundation for people with a mental disability, which appears twice a year. She also makes the drawings for the TV series 'Verhalen uit de Schatkist', which is broadcast by the evangelical broadcasting company EO. She additionally gives workshops in drawing cartoons.
