Born in Birmingham, comic artist and cartoonist Mark Buford earned a degree in psychology from the University of West Georgia and then studied graphic art. He worked as a graphic artist, while drawing single-panel cartoons for alternative newspapers and magazines.
'Meatloaf Night'.
Buford's first comic strip, 'Meatloaf Night' (1997-2000) was syndicated by United Features between 1997 and 2000. A comic strip about a bunch of kids and their pets growing up in the suburbs. This strip was followed by 'Scary Gary', a gag comic about a vampire, Gary, and monster, Leopold, distributed by Creators Syndicate to about 20 newspapers since June 2008. Buford works as an office manager at an architectural firm and part-time as a stand-up comedian. He lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
