Born in Córdoba, Juan Oscar Carovini attended the Academy of Fine Arts. In 1958, he settled in Buenos Aires, where he worked for the magazine Tía Vicenta. In 1961, Carovini published the adventures of his character '2º Holmes' in Crítica, following a contest held by the magazine. He then drew 'Yukón Pérez' and 'Terry Atlas' in Poncho Negro, before he became a regular artist of comic adaptations of novels for the collection 'A La Conquista del Mundo'. He also contributed to Hortensia, Intervalo and D'Artagnan, the publications of the publishing house Columba. He additionally worked for the Spanish publisher Bruguera and Editorial Record in Argentina.
