Poco, by Ricard Castells

Ricard Castells's first works appeared in the 1970s in such B-comics as Terror Gráfico, Horror and Zombie. The first actual samples of his talent appeared in Zero, a fanzine that published the work of now professionals Toni Garcés and Pascual Ferry. While also an illustrator, Castells also began doing his first color comics for Catalan Cavall Fort magazine. He began the ambitious 'Ecuador' project, but the narrow prevailing market forced him to leave this album without getting it published. In 1989, he cooperated on the collective album 'Norte-Sur', published by Ikusager.

He was again the victim of unwhilling publishers, when the dominical supplement of El País rejected his episode of a series made by thirteen artists under the direction of Hernández Cava. The other artists cancelled their work, but Castells's story finally appeared in the catalogue of Injuve Nuevas Viñetas. He began the series about the amnesic vampire 'Poco' in 1999. This series, about a vampire searching for his memories, mixes melancholy, humor and cruelty. The elegant watercolors of Castells reappear in the 'Lope de Aguirre' trilogy.
