Puso at Punglo, by Joey Celerio

Joey D. Celerio was one of the most popular comic artists in the Philippines to emerge during the 1970s. Celerio began his comics career in 1968 by working for Gold Star Publications. Shortly afterwards, he was also contributing to other companies including RAR Publications, GASI, Rex Publications and Atlas Publishing.

His best known works include 'Captain Barbell' (written by Mars Ravelo), 'Sinasamba Kita', 'Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin' (written by Gilda Olvidado), 'Karibal Ko ang Aking Ina', 'Modelong Tanso' (written by Nerissa Cabral), 'Blusang Itim' (written by Elena Patron), 'Inday Bote' (written by Pablo S. Gomez).

His artwork graced the pages of Rex Komiks and he drew 'Puso at Punglo' with a script by Gilda Olvidado for the Philippine magazine Espesyal Komiks in the period 1989-1990. In 1979, he was present on the American market with contributions to Vampirella. He has also done romance book cover illustrations. He was the son of composer-lyricist Levi Celerio and the brother of comic artist Louie Celerio.
