Renato Ciavola is an illustrator and cartoonist, author and journalist of Fabriano, Italy. Since the 1980s, Ciavola has contributed to magazines like Folgaria ('Brufolo e Gioia'), Mondoerre ('Modi e Mode'), and Festa ('Gigi Pasticcio'), often in collaboration with Tonino Lasconi. Between 1981 and 1989, he made the series 'Miki Nutella' for A.V.E. publishers in Rome.
He is also a promoter of comic strips and of reading tout court. Besides his job as a teacher, he has always been interested in graphics and cartoons from the point of view of realization as well as analysis and divulgation. Since the beginning of his professional activity he has been organizing meetings for teen-agers and educators at local and national level and to cooperate with associations promoting the diffusion of reading and comic strips.
While continuing to work in the production of graphic-narrative materials, he has been active promoting the development of publishing and reading divulgation activities, journalistic activities and cartoons schools. He currently works on both web and paper products (books, cartoon, graphic novel, divulger journalism), in the realms of images and words.
