Pierre-Yves Clerson was born in Tunisia as the son of a Canadian mother and a French father. He co-founded fanzine Pilone and created the saga of 'Abe Soluman' together with Francis Dupuy-Déri. In 1990 he received the Prix Solaris for his comic 'Paradise Hotel'. After being away from the comic scene for several years, he returned in 2001 with the character Tonton Robert in the album 'Saleté de Pauvres'.
