Joyas Literarias Juveniles #56 - Norte Contra Sur
Antonio Colmeiro Tomás was born in Barcelona as the son of aviator and painter Alejandro Colmeiro. During his life he has served in several military units (he attended the Academia General Militar in 1950 and retired as Colonel of Artillery in 1986), and is best known as a painter and sculptor. He began his career as an illustrator for the publishing house Toray and subsequently for the foreign market through agencies like Josep Toutain's Selecciones Ilustradas (a.o. Charlton war titles).
He began a collaboration with Bruguera in the 1970s and illustrated comic adaptations by Jules Verne ('Norte contra Sur') and Edgar Allan Poe ('El escarabajo de oro') for the collection Joyas Literarias Juveniles. He eventually focused completely on painting and sculpting, besides remaing active as an illustrator for the military magazine Ejército.
