Cooper not only works as a cartoonist - he is also a commercial illustrator and a designer, creator and producer in the field of animation. In 2001, 'Dan and Larry in Don't Do That!' was published by Fantagraphics. Dave Cooper gradually became more known as a fine art oil painter, and some of his work was collected in the books 'Underbelly' and 'Overbite'. Cooper published his debut children's book 'Bagel's Lucky Hat' under the pseudonym Hector Mumbly in 2007.

Cooper has worked with fellow indie cartoonist Johnny Ryan on comic stories aimed at a younger audience for Nickelodeon Magazine since 2004.
