Thierry Coppée was born in Brussels. He studied Greek and Latin languages, and spent four years at the École de Recherches Graphiques, where he studied Illustration. He became a teacher in a primary school however, but continued to draw in his spare time. He had his first publications in the magazine Spirou in 2002. He then turned to the publishing house Delcourt to begin his children's series 'Les Blagues de Toto', of which the first album appeared in 2004.
