Quentin el Aventurero by Coré

Mario Silva Ossa, an artist best known as Coré, was born in San Fernando. He studied Architecture at the University of Chile. In 1932 he joined the staff of El Peneca magazine, then directed by his aunt Elvira Santa Cruz Ossa. Coré illustrated a great many covers, as well as the 'Quentin el Aventurero' series. The artist is famous for his illustrations for books by classic authors like Emilio Salgari, Jules Verne, Oscar Wilde and Robert Louis Stevenson. Coré died tragically at the age of 37, when he was hit by a tram in 1950. His working style was continued by his only pupil, Elena Poirier.
