Joan Cornellà Vázquez, pseudonym of Renato Valdivieso, is a Spanish artist of absurd comics and a regular contributor to El Jueves magazine. He has also contributed to La cultura del Duodeno, El Periódico, Amaníaco, TMEO, the daily Ara and Quimera. In 2009 he won the Josep Coll Award for his book 'Abulio', that was published by in the following year. A selection of his black-and-white comics were collected in the book 'Francasa Mejor' by Acaba in 2012. Another collection, called 'Mox Nox' was issued by Bang Ediciones in 2013. Cornellà's work is characterized by its non-consequential violence and absurd surrealism.
