Born in Udine, Vittorio Cossio soon moved to Milan, where he began a career in animation, alongside his brother Carlo Cossio. He also began making comics for magazines such as Rintintin, L'Intrépido and Saladino. He did his best known work for Il Corriere dei Piccoli. For this magazine, he created such comics as 'Balilla Venturino' in 1935 and 'Centaurino Diodato' in 1939. He was also one of the early artists of the publishing house Bonelli (then still called Audace). There, he succeeded his brother on the boxing comic 'Furio Almirante'. This comic was continued after World War II by among others Lina Buffolente and Dino Attanasio. He also drew the first part of Bonelli's adaptation of 'Orlando Invicibile' in 1942, a comic that was completed by Rino Albertarelli. During the War, he also illustrated 'Raff', the man with the iron fists, scripted by Mario Guerri. Later on, he also drew for the satirical periodicals Il Travaso, Calandrino and Marc Aurelio.
