'L'Ours Barnabé'.
Philippe Coudray, born in 1960 in Bordeaux, began his career in 1989 in the magazine Psikopat. He made most of his comics in collaboration with his brother and scriptwriter, Jean-Luc Coudray. Together they created the 'Drôles' collection, which contains several works, including 'Drôles de Manchots,' 'Drôles de Chats,' and 'Drôles de Sangliers'. Another comic made by them was 'Théocrite,' of which two issues appeared from 1991 to 1993. On his own, Philippe Coudray has created four albums of the children's series 'L'Ours Barnabé', about a bear and his rabbit friend. The series has been translated in English ('Barney the Bear'), Swedish, German, Chinese, Japanese and also ran in Dutch translation in the Flemish comic weekly Suske en Wiske Weekblad, under the title 'Barnabeer'.
Coudray's work has also appeared in the magazines Fripounet and Perlin. In 2000, l'Association published his album 'Loin de Tout,' which contained surreal gags that originally appeared in Psikopat.
