While studying, Laurent Crenn founded the fanzine Anus Horibilis with artist Fred and Jean-Louis Marco. There, he created mythical characters like 'Captain Caca', 'Gringo Malo', 'Les Rangers de l'Espace' and also 'Bouyoul', using the pseudonym Loran. After his studies, he worked as an infographist for a year. Settled in Montpellier, he joined the Atelier du Préau, where he made comics in cooperation with Jean-François Dessere and Jean-Louis Marco. At Le Cycliste, he relaunched his 'Bouyoul' series, in color this time. The series 'Bouyoul in Wonderland' appears from 2004 at this publishing house.
