Roberto Alfonso Cruz, who often signs with Robe, is a creator of realistic comics from Havana, Cuba. Most of his characters have their roots in Cuban civilization and culture, such as 'Guabay', 'Yarí' and 'Naoh'. Most of his work was published in the magazines Pionero, Zunzún and Cómicos.
Cruz created the series 'Recuerdos de Chamaco' with scriptwriter Fidel Morales Vega for Pionero in 1971. It was collected in book format by Editorial Pablo de la Torriente in 1988. He also contributed 'Emiliano Zapata' to RaAnap, the magazine of the National Association of Farmers. Some of his stories were published in the DDR magazines Trommel and Frösi. In 2009, he illustrated a book about the 50th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.
