Noel de Chouans (Bernadette, 1952)
Maurice De La Pintière was a student at the School of Fine Art when he tried to cross the Spanish border to join the French in the north of Africa. He was apprehended and sent to the Dora concentration camp where he stayed until the Liberation. He captured his experiences in a series of 35 washed drawings. In the 1950s, he drew comic stories like 'Noel de Chouans' for the girl's magazine Bernadette.
