Joz De Swerts was one of early contributors to the Catholic magazine Zonneland, edited by Nonkel Fons. He illustrated comics and made painted covers since 1930. He was pioneer in Belgian political cartoons. De Swerts was born in Antwerp and died in Merksem.

Joz De Swerts was an influence on Jef Nys.
