Ned Brant
Bill Walter Depew worked for the Capper Engraving Company in Topeka Kansas, and was staff photographer and artist of the Des Moines Tribune's editorial department. He was placed in charge of the art department of both the Register and Tribune in 1916. For the Register and Tribune Syndicate, and with writer Bob Zuppke, he began the 'Ned Brant' syndicated strip in 1930, and continued it until 1948. Other short-lived features by Depew were 'Flying to Fame' (1933), 'Off Campus' (1933-35), 'Sport by Ned Brant' (1935-37) and 'Dick Ember' (1948). Reprints of 'Ned Brant' appeared in comic books like Crack Comics, published by Quality.
