Isabelle Dethan studied literature and took courses in medieval literature. However, her passion for comics won, and she drew her first comic for the German magazine Schwermetall. In 1992, she won the Alph'Art Avenir at Angoulême. A year later, she started the trilogy 'Mémoire de Sable', published by Delcourt. Again for Delcourt, she produced 'Le Roi Cyclope' in 1997. Dethan also cooperated on the monthly magazine Je Bouquine and made a comics adaptation of 'Alice au Pays des Merveilles'. In 2001, Isabelle Dethan started two new series, 'Sur les Terres d'Horus' and 'Ingrid'.
