Jan van Doornspeek is a Zwolle-based Dutch graphic artist, illustrator and comic artist. Among his illustration clients are BoekieBoekie, KRO Kindertijd, ZIZO Magazine, NRC.Next and the publishers Malmberg and Querido. His work for Malmberg also included educational comic strips. Van Doorspeek won the Benelux Comics Prize in 2011 with his comic 'De Smeulende Vrouw', published in the Dutch paper NRC.Next. He has also made comics for the National Historical Museum, the collective book 'Filmfanfare' and the montly magazine Tattoo Planet ('Tattoo Joe & Co'). His comics version of Snow White, 'Sneeuwwitte Tranen', was featured in the Belgian comic magazine P@per in 2014.
In 2015, Van Doornspeek's 'Wachtkamer' won the Plastieken Plunk for 'Best Comics Short Story'.
