J. L. Duarte is one of the new generation of Portuguese comic artists who gained success after the Carnation Revolution of April 25, 1974. Duarte's solid graphics contain a structured and coherent universe. His satirical oeuvre includes series like 'Filocopos', 'Aula Nocturna', 'Kolans' and the album 'Kolanville'. In the mid-1980s, he created 'Os Fardetas', a satire of the military forces.
