Marijan Ebner was a Croatian lithographer from Osijek, who dedicated most of his life to making comic strips. Between World War I and World War II, he was one of the most published authors in the Belgrade magazine Mika Miš. His first comic strip, 'Misterije okeanskih dubina' ('Mysteries of the Ocean Depths') was published in 1936.
Ebnrer worked for several other magazines, such as Tarcan, Paja Patak and Mali zabavnik. For the latter he created the science fiction comic 'Pakleni pronalazak' ('Hellish Find'). He is best-known for his adventure, detective, science fiction and travel comics. During World War II ,he mostly worked as an illustrator, but also created the war-themed comic 'Staljingrad', later retitled 'Preko ruske stepe' ('Across the Russian Steppe'). Marijan Ebner disappeared in 1945, most presumably as a result of the chaos at the end of World War II.
