I was a child of holocaust survivors by Bernice Eisenstein
'I Was A Child of Holocaust Survivors'.

Bernice Eisenstein was born in Toronto, Canada, into a Jewish family. Her parents were both survivors of the Auschwitz concentration camp, and although the war was never discussed, the experiences of her family left a deep impression on young Bernice. She became fascinated by the war, and at the age of 11 she already followed every aspect of the 1961 Adolf Eichmann trial. After her college years, she went to Israel and then to England, where she studied at the Art Academy. Back in Canada, she began her career as an illustrator and publisher. Following the death of her father, Eisenstein researched the history of her family in texts and drawings. This eventually resulted in her 2006 (partially graphic) novel 'I Was a Child of Holocaust Survivors', in which she explores her own identity through the experience of her parents. A short animated film based on the book was released in 2010.
