Far til Fire, by Kaj Engholm
Far til Fire

Kaj Engholm was a Danish cartoonist, advertising illustrator and poster artist. He was born as Johan Peter Kai Harald Engholm in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen. Engholm had his breakthrough as a commercial artist with the advertising comic 'Hvor er Jensen?' for the tobacco company C.W. Obel. This was followed by his longest running cartoon series 'Fedthas', that ran from 1942 (as 'Gnidén') until his death in 1988.

Engholm is however best-known for co-creating 'Far til Fire' ('Father of Four') with Olav Hast, a comic strip that made its debut in Politikin in 1947. This family comic became so popular that it was made into a series of eight films by ASA Film between 1953 and 1961. In 2005, seventeen years after the author's death, Claus Bjerre launched a new film series. Another comic strip by Kaj Engholm is 'Kon Rosa'.
